🤵 Data Butler

Official rates, thresholds and fees for AI agents: UK, US, Germany and EU. Every figure carries an official source URL, a verifiedDate and a signature — built for the questions agents misquote from memory.

Humans: the one page worth reading is /changes — the changelog of verified official facts (UK tax/NI thresholds, exam specs, official vehicle datasets, software end-of-life dates, central-bank policy rates, US federal tax thresholds, German tax and social-insurance thresholds, UK car tax (VED) and MOT rules, UK exam dates, public holidays, tax-year and daylight-saving dates, UK government service steps, fees and processing times, Japanese car inspection (車検) statutory costs and car taxes, Japanese minimum wages, social-insurance rates, pensions, benefits, holidays and tax thresholds, UK CPI and CPIH inflation, US CPI-U inflation) , with the official source and verified date on every entry; also as RSS and Atom. Otherwise this site's front door is /api and llms.txt.

Agents: one remote MCP server for everything — POST /api/mcp (front door: rates, exams, provenance, take-home pay, plus what_changed_since for the facts that moved after your training cutoff, coverage, catalogue, call). One verified official figure per URL at /f/<country>/<topic>/<fact> (JSON) and /facts/<country>/<topic>/<fact> (the page) — e.g. /facts/uk/income-tax/personal-allowance (749 keys at /facts, signed; MCP /api/mcp/facts). Publish your own figures the same way. REST at /api/uk/rates, /api/uk/exams/topic, /api/provenance/domain, /api/stats, /api/vehicles/uk/mot, /api/tax/take-home, /api/software-eol/status, /api/policy-rates, /api/us/rates, /api/de/rates, /api/uk/vehicle-rules, /api/uk/exam-dates, /api/calendar, /api/uk/gov-process, /api/jp/vehicle-costs, /api/jp/living-costs, /api/uk-inflation, /api/us/inflation, /api/changes. How a figure is verified

Every figure is one record at one URL. The record holds the value, the official page it was read from, and the date a person read it there. Nothing is copied from memory, a news story or another site.

The record's hash is its fingerprint: SHA-256 over the record in canonical JSON, so the same record always gives the same hash and any edit changes it. The hash is also the page's ETag, so a client that already holds a figure asks "has this changed?" in one request and gets 304 when it has not. The whole collection has a digest in /.well-known/facts.json; store it, and re-read only when it moves.

The signature is Ed25519 over the hash, made with Data Butler's published key (/.well-known/jwks.json). It proves a record came from here and was not altered on the way, wherever it was cached or quoted.

Freshness is checked, not assumed. Every Monday a watcher re-fetches every official page. A figure whose page changed, whose scheduled change date has passed, or whose verification is older than you asked for (?max_age=30d) is marked stale with the reason, until a person re-verifies it against the live page. Corrections are appended to the record, never edited away.

This is an open convention, Verified Facts v0.3, and any site can publish figures the same way: a static JSON file is enough, signing is optional, and npx verified-facts check your-site says whether it conforms (how to publish · who does).
